Saturday, January 22nd, 2005- Pacific Ocean

11:40pm- 5:40am Est.- Today I finally had the opportunity to actually go outside and get some fresh air for the first time in four days. It had been the evening of our departure from the Port of Vancouver since I last had been able to get some sort of escape from the confines of the inside of the ship. Outside it was sunny, with dark clouds off in the direction of our destination. It was quite windy with a little chill. The one thing I noticed right away though was how blue and clear the water was. Just to think how clean this water is.

The bad news however is that we are supposedly coming up to our worst storm yet (the boat is again rocking back and forth). So far in our limited amount of time at sea we have had it pretty rough which I believe hasn’t been experienced by Semester at Sea ships in the past couple of years because they don’t usually go this route during the Spring semester. Oh well another challenge that I will have to endure and hopefully I will come out again without getting sick… knock on wood.

Moving the clock back at midnight again… will be 7 hours behind Eastern Standard Time.
