Thursday, February 10th, 2005- San Francisco

We arrived in San Francisco at 5:15am and sat around the airport trying to pass our 9 hour layover. Kara Morgan actually lives near San Francisco and her parents came down to the airport and took Kara, Chelsea, and I out to the city of San Francisco. We went to the Golden Gate Bridge, saw Angel Island (the Ellis Island of the Pacific), Alcatraz, Lombard Street, the Ghirardelli Chocolate Factory, and Mel’s Diner (location of the film American Graffiti) all in 3 hours. When we got back to the airport I actually purchased a global cell phone that will hopefully work in the countries I’m going to.
Our flight left at 2:10pm (1410) and we’re still en route. It is a little strange because it has been sunny for 9hrs straight so far. It’s also amazing to think that when we land there will be a whole different culture and I will not be able to understand what is going on.
